How dangerous is a propane grill?
Jun 10, 2006 by goober
I just bought my dad a new grill for fathers day. We haven't had one for probably 10 years.
I've always been a little worried about gases and things. So my question is, how dangerous are propane grills?
We don't smoke or anything and none of my neighbors do, but I'm just curious. When they said that they could deliver the whole order except the propane, it just sparked (probably a poor choice of words) my worries again.
Thanks so much for any help.
Thanks for your answers, I really appreciate them. I've always used electric anything to avoid gas, but have missed the grill for some time now.
When I was in school, my brothers class was having a fundraiser. They had a BBQ to raise the money. One of the parents volunteered to do the BBQ and there was a problem (I was pretty young and don't remember much) and I guess the grill exploded and killed him.
Thanks again!
They are very safe.
When you finish grilling turn off the tank and you will hear a small "pop" as the burner runs out of gas. Now turn off the valve(s).
When you light the grill always open the lid for a few seconds first, turn on the tank, turn on a valve & light the grill.
Can I hook up my propane grill to the propane in my house, or do I have to buy one of the small tanks?
Mar 15, 2008 by J T
I have propane in my house used for a stove, dryer and gas fireplace. The propane is supplied at 11 inches water column. Can I just connect my propane grill to an existing outdoor stub from my house propane, which has a shut off valve and is located right where I would like to put the grill, or do I have to buy and use the small tanks everyone seems to have? Would I have to buy trac pipe or some special connector?
they should all be standerd sizes. they should hook right up. it dont matter what size the tanks are.hope this helps. i do it all the time.
