whats the best way to get it completely off?
You could put newspaper over the wax and apply a hot iron, or you could try applying ice.

How do I remove melted wax, from a candle, from a stone fireplace mantel?

A home we recently bought has a great stone fireplace. Unfortunately, the last owners spilled candlewax on the stone mantel. We've tried a ton of different things to try and remove it, from stain removers to scraping. Any success stories out there? Ideas? Please share! Thanks!
I should mention the mantel is not painted, it's not polished, and it's very, very porous. Thanks!
If it's on a horizontal surface, you could try melting it off. hold a flame nearby (not close enough to leave black marks) and let the wax drip off as it melts. There's a cleaner they sell called Goo-Gone which might work too.
