Over the past few months, which included a cold and snowy winter, contractors, masons, architects, members of the Rockaway Township Historical Society, and a number of Rockaway Township officials made frequent visits to the Ford-Faesch Manor House, working on the latest restoration project. This brings the Historical Society one step closer to its goal to "secure the soundness of the building, restore to as closely as possible the style and character of the restoration period of 1772-1831, and extend the life of the building for the benefit of future generations."

Paid for with a 2009 grant from the Morris County Trust for Historic Preservation, the project has restored the house’s front exterior by putting in glass windows, providing masonry work to the front door and window openings, painting the windows, and cleaning the brick quoins. On the inside, the lintel over the kitchen window was restored and the lintel over the kitchen fireplace replaced, masonry work was done above the fireplace lintel, and ceiling joists were reset. Upstairs, the floor joists were restored in one of the bedrooms and in the hall.

how much do you want to pay for a masonry fireplace in master bed?

we are looking to buy a house. two houses are almost identitcal. one has an extra( on top of main living room fireplace) masonry fireplace in the huge master bed...of course it costs a little more.

so how much are you willing to pay for the extra fireplace/? I am asking you because I am thinking about resale some day and my potential buyers
Personally I wouldn't give two cents for a fireplace in the bedroom. I lived many years with wood.....messy, stains, dusty. I would not pay extra for it...sorry.

How do you hang a wreath on a Stone Masonry Fireplace without drilling holes?

Can you hang it from the ceiling with fishing line? My downstairs fireplace is rock from floor to ceiling, and the ceiling isn't that high, so it works for me. You might be able to put a nail in the mortar between the rocks, but that could pose a problem later, depending on the weight
of the wreath, and how big the nail is, and if the mortar is all the same color. Sometimes they "grout" fireplaces, and only the last half inch
the decorator color.
