US prepares for last major Afghan offensive
May 19, 2012 | While bombings and shootings elsewhere in Afghanistan receive relatively little attention, attacks in the capital alarm the general population, undermine the government's reputation and frighten foreigners into fleeing the
country. KABUL, Afghanistan -- For Taliban militants and U. S. strategists alike, all roads in this impoverished country of mountain passes, arid deserts and nearly impassable goat tracks lead to this ancient capital of 3 million people nestled in a high... The Taliban made their intentions clear over the weekend, mounting spectacular coordinated attacks that spawned an 18-hour battle with Afghan and NATO
forces. That's why insurgents on Sunday struck locations that were so fortified they could cause little or no damage, including the diplomatic quarter, the parliament and a NATO base. And now, the U. Why doesn't my universal remote work with my fireplace remote?
Dec 09, 2008 by mont121793
On my universal remote I have to program each button on each remote individually. I point the remote i want to program at the universal remote, press the button on the remote im programming, and it finds the frequency and remembers it. Why won't that work with my fireplace remote control? Is it a different kind of frequency?
Your universal remote most likely works on an Infrared signal. You should check with the manufacturer of your fireplace to see if the signal is an infrared. It could be an RF signal, at which point you would have to get a universal RF remote. Another thing to look at is whether your existing universal remote can process the infrared signal coming from the fireplace remote. You may want to invest in a higher end universal remote, like the Logitech Harmony One, and browse through their catalog of compatible devices.
