VIDEO: Quincy St. Patrick's Day barbs target local, state and national pols

May 19, 2012 | Mayor Thomas Koch presented a green blazer with a bulls eye on the back to Daniel Raymondi, the longtime city councilor who Koch controversially appointed public works commissioner last year. “A couple weeks passed, I called (Raymondi) up. I said, ‘Commissioner, I said fireplace. “When I went to the park department, we cleaned the place up. we had a beautiful fire place,” Koch said. Raymondi, known for his bulldog style on the council, has been conspicuously absent for years from the annual St. Patrick’s Day roasting. Quincy pols tore into more than corned beef and cabbage at the city’s 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration and roast. “You’re going to need that through the duration I think today,” Koch told Raymondi about the jacket. Koch mused on the disciplinary actions Raymondi has taken against DPW employees since taking the helm. Their colleagues and electoral hopefuls proved equally appetizing, as verbal jabs were directed at Quincy’s public works commissioner, Congressional candidates and the Republican field in the presidential primary.
