Soggy spring ruins many plans in region

Sarah Worchel and her fiance built a townhouse in the North Side and would like to throw a party for family and friends.

Guests will need a ladder to reach the front door.

Until the builder pours the concrete for the front steps, the bank won't close on the mortgage loan for Worchel and Michael Purcell's house on James Street. And the steps won't get done until there are at least three or four dry days in a row.

There's the rub. The region has endured nearly 22 inches of rain this year — including 4 inches so far in May. That's 8.1 inches above normal at this point, said Brad Rehak, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Moon.

"This rain is just relentless," said Worchel, 31. "I just want them to put the stairs in so we can get into the house."

Complaints about incessant rain are common, but the unusually wet spring weather is affecting more than just people's moods. Contractors, landscapers and swimming pool installers report they are considerably late on projects.

cost of lining an 8 metre chimney with 7inch stainless liner,in scotland?

I'm not sure i live in basingstoke and my bother has just had his lined and his cost just over £550. Hope this helps a little.

I would say £800 is a fair price, 7" liners can be a nightmare, the flue will be around 9" in parts, which does not give much room to get a 7" liner in over 8 metres.
