I have a few loose bricks inside my fireplace and was wondering if there were any products that were suitable for repairing them such as a liquid nail type product.
you need a good refractory cement...find a masonry supply or a store that sells woodstoves...or if you know someone who does refractory work....

How do you repair the fire box of an fireplace?

I had the inside of the fireplace repaired because it had a couple of cracks. But now I need to fix the area where you place the wood. I was told to use sheet metal to line the fire box any other sugestions?
all that i can think of that would be wrong is bad mortar joints , right? then you need to grind them out and repoint them...if this isnt the problem then please elaborate
