Entergy asking customers to reduce electricity usage

Feb 04, 7190 |

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Entergy Arkansas, Inc. is asking its customers in central Arkansas to voluntarily reduce their usage of electricity until 9 p.m. tonight.

The unusual appeal is the result of extremely hot temperatures that are causing increased electricity usage that could potentially overload electrical lines that could cause power outages.

Entergy has already curtailed certain industrial and wholesale customers pursuant to special agreements that allow them to be curtailed.

Electrical power demand has continued to increase. If electricity usage continues to increase and electric facilities become overloaded, periodic temporary power outages could begin among residential and commercial customers. These are expected to be short power curtailments that affect different groups of customers at different times.

Any temporary outage would typically last from 30 minutes to one hour, but could be shorter or longer, depending on the situation.

Fireplace Damper?

Dec 20, 2006 by twisteddarkchocolate
We just got our house inspected and one of the things the inspector found was that the fireplace damper didnt work with the handle. does anyone know if this is gonna be an expensive fix.We have never used the fireplace so thats why we didnt know there was a problem.
Usually the damper is of a specific size. They burn out from heat and moisture. Fireplace stores have access to them. Also places that sell firebrick sometimes carry them. You will have to unbolt the old one and it's a messy job. The bolts are always rusted and burnt. Hacksaw will work.

How do you install a lock top fireplace damper?

Dec 16, 2007 by kta kta
We recently bought a home and it had a stove in the fireplace. We didn't want the stove so we removed it. The problem is that it doesn't look like there is a damper in the fireplace. I heard the cheapest way to install a new one is to use a lock top damper. Any ideas? Also, need to get rid of the stove. It's in decent shape. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?- it's extremely heavy. Thanks!
A lock top damper is installed on top of your chimley and keeps the air/wind from comming down your chimney and smelling the room or house like soot. Some are permanent and some can be lifted to burn again a fire. Most fireplaces when built have a damper installed in the up pipe to regulate the draft .
The old stove is a desired item by some. I searched a long time before finding one that would fit inside my fireplace and now it heats my home unlike the fireplace alone.
Place the fireplace for sale locally and someone will come and pick it up and remove it for you.
