Soot & Water Stain On Marble Fireplace
Problem: I have a whitish carrara fireplace that is about 130 years old.
The line had rising wettish and it seems that for decades the humid has been infiltrating the marble, irresistible the soot from the back of the fireplace with it.
Now it has extensive brown discolouration patches that seem to go dyed in the wool through the marble. I have tried poultice with pure etiolate which doesn't do much, and also lightly sanding it doesn't establish any discrepancy as the soil goes through the marble.
The fireplace is currently disinterested from the infuriate, so i can get to the back of it, if that is life-and-death. Please remedy!

You tried methods that can line for spry burns and smoke damage, so honest assessment there... but the bill is impartial too unadorned for DIY methods.
This marble fireplace needs to be professionally restored. The damaged marble must be dirt away and removed.

How to paint over marble on the fireplace in a rental? Have to remove the paint when lease runs out!? I have a client with an ugly marble fireplace. There is no problem painting it, but how can he remove the paint once his lease runs out. I am sure the landlord is very proud of his ugly marble mantle! Was thinking about a self adhesive film as an "undercoat" and our colour on top? Anyone have any ideas?
i'm a painter,whatever colour or paint he has used on the marble just rub it down with sand paper and undercoat it with oilbased u/c then paint it to your pleasing (light colour use white u/c dark colour use grey) , but why has he painted it on the first place i've never heard of that in my life!!! there is anouther option you can use nitromorse to remove what ever he has done to it and return it to marble,tho that would take alot of time to do,any prob just mail me....all the best

How do i get my marble fireplace clean? i have a beige marble fireplace which is all dirty it has black spots on it from the fire, i have tried bleach and cif cleaner but it does not come out!!any suggestions on how to get it back clean?
Hmm, it sounds like you have tried abrasive cleaning. One other thing that some fireplace experts recommend is a cleaning with a trisodium phosphate mixture. This often does the trick for stone or brick fireplaces. However, fireplace ash and smoke are difficult to remove. If the above fails, you may want to call a chinmey sweep (you might want to call one and see if they have some other ideas).
