State Mill Road home built 1855 undergoes renovation

Everyone has been curious about the restoration/renovation of the stone house on State Mill Road.  It is one of the oldest homes in Coventry Township, built in 1855, and has been extensively renovated by very private individuals who requested their names be withheld from print.

I was invited, by the contractor, to tour the home recently and will share my     findings with you.  The contractor, Les Lucas, lives in the Manchester area and was raised in the construction business.  With every project Lucas undertakes, he takes the time to listen and understand his client’s likes and dislikes which then enables him to carry out their vision. 

The State Mill Road property has evolved into a five-year project and learning experience for Lucas. His initial suggestions and ideas were rejected by the homeowners so he asked for another meeting and listened more intently to their dreams.  He realized the homeowners wanted nothing but the highest quality materials to be used in the home with the emphasis on quality and nothing imitation. Their requests included all cherry wood throughout, crystal chandeliers, carved marble fireplaces, heated marble floors in the bath, solid brass hardware, slate roof with copper embellishments, plus other upscale details.

I need advice about the wood burning fireplace in my home.?

I would like to use the fireplace to help heat my small home so I don't have to run the furnace as much throughout the winter months. I have read that a fireplace is not an efficent source of heat. Can anything make it more efficent?
They make special fireplace inserts that enable you to capture more of the heat from your fireplace. Go to a fireplace shop and ask for help on fireplace inserts.

I have a 2500 sq ft home and would like to add a fireplace. I don't need brick or anything elaborate, just wood burning.
Find a place that sells the metal pre-formed fireplace units and do it yourself. Thew come with a triple wall chimney and are totally safe. With the brick lining inside no one will ever know that it isn't all brick. They are also much lighter weight and can stand on a floor with no extra support. They are zero clearance and can be put right against a wall. Frame around with wood and cover with man made stone or thin phony bricks.
