Gas leaks found in seven homes

The tenants of a Second Avenue East house owned by Meadow Lake Housing Authority were forced to evacuate the night of June 13 when a natural gas leak was found in the basement.

The leak was the result of "someone yanking at a gas meter that had been disconnected from the wall of the house," said SaskEnergy spokesperson Dave Burdeniuk.

A SaskEnergy technician who inspected all the homes in the complex on June 14 found six more leaks.

Burdeniuk said he didn't know if the other gas leaks were caused in the same way or by the improper installation of a furnace or water heater.

The housing project was undergoing renovations, he said.

"It appears the contractor installing siding disconnected all our gas meters from the wall outside and they were all hanging loose," he said. "Anytime anyone needs to move one of our natural gas meters we're supposed to be involved and that didn't happen."

Al MacFarlane, owner of Meadow Lake Properties, said his workers disconnected the gas meters last fall.

My Trane XE90 furnace ignitor will glow but then you hear a click and the main burners will not light?

The fan blows cold air. Eventually the burns will light after several tries or switching the furnace off and then back on.
Something is dirty. Replace the filter and blow everything out with an aircompressor or whatever.

Mid-eddificiency furnace makes 2-3 clicks of ignitor before it gets flame. Is this normal?

Hi, we have moved into an older home this past April. The furnace is a mid-efficiency model which is approx. 7 years old. The units ignitor makes a clicking noise which is to be expected when it is lighting however I have noticed that it clicks 2-3 sometimes even 4 times before it ignites. Is this normal? What could cause this and is there anything I could do to correct this if this is not normal?
