Salina Couple Wins Contest; 61-Year-Old Furnace Replaced
May 22, 2012 | The Goulds are getting a new energy efficient Trane
furnace, which will be at least eighty percent efficient. Jerry Callibresi says that out of over 100 entries, the Gouldâs
furnace turned out to be the oldest. Lee and Debbie Gould are getting a new furnace, courtesy of Callibresi Heating and Cooling. She says âweâll be kind of sorry to see the old furnace go, at least until the first utility bill arrivesâ. After 61 years, a furnace in a Central Salina home is being replaced. The Chrysler furnace, an Airtemp Lowboy, was installed in the Central Salina home back in 1951. The Salina company had a contest, looking for the oldest forced air furnace in town that was still working. Callibresi says it will save the couple thirty to fifty percent a month on their utility bills. Callibresi says that it is at best, about fifty percent efficient. Debbie says that she and her husband have never really ever won anything before, so this came as a big surprise.

How much will it cost to replace an old TRANE furnace?
Jan 02, 2007 by Christina G
I am planning to replace our old TRANE furnace. I have 1700 sq ft house. I recently received an estimate of $2600 - $2800 installation included but it could be more if they will find more problems. And if they find more problems, the amount would be way above our budget. Just want to find out if the estimate that I got is reasonable?
Make them give you a written estimate with a set price. If they've been to your home and seen the curent set-up, they know exactly what it's going to cost! Get a written estimate with a set price, and make them stick to it. Or else find another company because it sounds like this one is preparing to stick it to you...
I have to replace my furnace and central air. Reco is Trane furnace Coleman a/c. Good advice?

One HVAC company is recommending Trane XV 90 but Coleman 2 ton B2CS 10 Seer-last year's model. They say it's because I am concerned about humidity in summer. Is this a good reco- not going with 13 Seer? And is Coleman a good brand- don't see many around here (Toronto Ontario). Another company is reco Trane furnace and Trane a/c-XR 13. Diff take on same problem. Opinions?
I went with Trane. Is the XV90 a builders grade. Make sure you know before you buy. No Offence to the Lennox Guy but I have had nothing but problems with my Lennox furnace. My sister has one and is replacing it as well.
