Sentry Insurance sues to recover paid fire claim
May 23, 2011 | An insurance company claims it was forced to pay a Pleasant Plains man $350,000 after his house caught on fire due to an improperly installed flue pipe.
Sentry Insurance filed a lawsuit May 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Gene's Furnace Shop.
In its complaint, Sentry claims it was forced to dole out $350,000 for damages caused to Ryan Hildebrand's property at 6998 Salisbury Rd. after it was destroyed by a fire.
The fire ignited on Dec. 8, 2009, after a wood joist caught on flames because of an improperly installed flue pipe, according to the complaint.
Before the fire, Gene's Furnace Shop had installed the flue pipe, but did not do so in a safe manner, the suit states.
For example, when installing the flue pipe, Gene's negligently utilized a single wall furnace flue instead of a double wall, the complaint says. In addition, Gene's ran the flue horizontally to wood joists, failed to install the flue in conformity with manufacturer recommendations Read more »

Dec 04, 2006 by honeyangel
i cannot find the pilot on my gas wall furnace. it is a coleman company model. i've read answers to other's questions and still cannot locate it. Isn't there somewhere on line they have pictures of where it would be located?
i dont know any of my neighbors. and i really dont fill like paying an arm and leg for someone to come do it.
BETTER than getting second hand information that could very well be HAZARDOUS to your life!!! ::::::
Call the gas company out and have the guy teach you how to do this properly! All the gas companies I've ever done business with have given this service for FREE because they do NOT want ACCIDENTS.
Why is my wall furnace so noisy?
Nov 29, 2007 by Kwall
I had a new wall furnace installed in my home 2 months ago. It makes loud popping noises everytime it comes on and off, for about 10 minutes. The heating company that installed the furnace told me this is due to the metal expanding during heating and there is nothing that can be done about this. They also said that this is a common problem with wall furnances. Is this true? The company has tried to loosen the screws to relieve pressure but this has not helped. Thanks for any info.
Ask the furnace people if it is viable and safe to put in insulation IE:Fiberglass between the outside doors to keep the banging down to a roar.
