How can I disinfect an electric fan heater? I have a bunch of electric fan heaters standing around, the 2000W-type. I noticed the other day that they collect a lot of vile-looking dustbunnies on their air intakes, and I'd hate to think what they spew out all day long (must be the place to be if you're a germ!).
Now I'm hoping to kill all the germs by spraying medical alcohol disinfectant into the air intakes, but how long do I need to wait before it's all evaporated? These things would become flame throwers if it isn't all dried off. Or does anyone have a better idea (please don't say "buy another type of heater", because I can't). Thanks. How hot is the air coming out of the outlets? Are they used outside or in a rather well ventilated area as opposed to inside a closed area? You might not need to worry about doing anything more than scraping or brushing the dust-bunnies off. In a hot, dry environment not many germs thrive. The alcohol shouldn't hurt anything though. I'm just not certain that you need it.
