Fans can't beat Moyer's 78-mph heater
May 22, 2012 | During the Miracle's game last Thursday, they put on a promotion where fans could win a free ticket to an upcoming game if they could throw harder than Moyer. Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer made headlines last week when, at 49 years old, he became the oldest pitcher to win a major league game. "I think some people look at the majors and they see guys throwing 90 and above, and they think 78 is super slow. "I'm a big fan of Jamie Moyer. It's an incredible feat, but people were sitting around going, 'Gosh, he's only throwing 78 mph,' " said Gary Sharp, the Miracle's
director of media relations and promotions. Also of note in his start against the San Diego Padres was that Moyer's fastball topped out at 78 mph. The Fort Myers Miracle, the Class-A affiliate of the Minnesota
Twins, took note of both those facts and decided to have a little fun at Moyer's expense. But not a lot of people can throw 78 if they're not baseball players.

can a 2kw fan heater be enough to heat up a standard size room?
Oct 22, 2007 by lakz k
we want to buy a cheap portable heater to heat up our garage since we had it renovated and are trying to get the heaters fixed so are looking for a portable heater for the time being. so can anyone tell or reccomend me a portable fan heater that is enough to heat up a room. thanks in advance!
Be careful with what you buy. Your garage by its nature would have gasoline cans, etc. in it. You have fumes from the lawnmower, automobile all hanging low to the floor. A spark from an electric heater could cause an explosion. There really is no advantage to heating a garage unless you are using it as a workshop also. Cars rust more in the winter time in a warm garage.
How can I disinfect an electric fan heater?
Sep 12, 2006 by Tahini Raving Weirdo
I have a bunch of electric fan heaters standing around, the 2000W-type. I noticed the other day that they collect a lot of vile-looking dustbunnies on their air intakes, and I'd hate to think what they spew out all day long (must be the place to be if you're a germ!).
Now I'm hoping to kill all the germs by spraying medical alcohol disinfectant into the air intakes, but how long do I need to wait before it's all evaporated? These things would become flame throwers if it isn't all dried off.
Or does anyone have a better idea (please don't say "buy another type of heater", because I can't).
Thanks.
How hot is the air coming out of the outlets? Are they used outside or in a rather well ventilated area as opposed to inside a closed area? You might not need to worry about doing anything more than scraping or brushing the dust-bunnies off. In a hot, dry environment not many germs thrive. The alcohol shouldn't hurt anything though. I'm just not certain that you need it.
