How do I turn off the pilot light in my old floor heater?
May 22, 5331 by Bethany
I assume I just twist the long rectangular rod to the off position but I wanted to make sure that would turn it fully off so that I don't have gas leaking out into my home. This is an old 1930's/1940's style floor heater.
Thanks!
if there are 3 positions,,"on,,pilot,,and off",,turning it to "off" will turn it completely off, including the pilot.......dan................ .......*****added later***** i wonder if whoever gave me a thumbs down on my answer has ever seen or worked on a gas floor furnace to even understand the question...floor furnaces are usually in a crawl space,,therefore they often have a long rod connected to the gas combination valve on the furnace end,,and connected to a control knob/handle on the top end so the homeowner can turn it off or turn it on,,even light the pilot from the 1st floor grate, without going into the crawl space!!!!!!!!
Can my rabbit over heat if he lays on my floor heater for too long?
Mar 24, 2009 by Emily
He is about 10 weeks old and he's decided that his favorite place to hang out is on the floor heater whenever its turned on. He always just seems really happy when he's laying there. I know that rabbits can't cool themselves so I'm worried he might over heat. Please just let me know what you think. I just want to make sure the heater won't hurt him!
