2012 Nissan Leaf Battery Warmer: More Details

Unlike EVs with liquid heating, which use grid power to maintain a minimum battery temperature and preserve range, the Leaf's battery heater will activate to ensure acceptable performance when temperatures are near 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Batteries already lose power as temperatures drop, and at subfreezing temps, acceleration is compromised. At roughly minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 30 degrees Celsius), battery-electric and some hybrid cars simply won't turn on.

"We weren't scared that someone couldn't merge on the freeway," said Mark Perry, director of product planning for Nissan North America. "We were protecting against the no-start condition, if somebody happens to leave their car outside in subzero, a remote lot at the airport, not plugged in, not driven."

In this case, the battery heater uses its stored energy to power resistive heating elements that draw less than 0.3 kilowatts (300 watts). Once again, no liquid or fans are involved. For comparison, hair dryers typically use more than 1.5kW, the Leaf's battery recharges at 3.3 kW when connected to a 240-volt charger, and in the dead of winter we saw our Leaf's cabin heater draw as much as 4.5 kW for brief periods. The battery pack is rated at 24 kilowatt-hours, so if it had, say, 16 kWh of charge left, you might think the heater would run it down in 53 hours — but it doesn't work that way.

Why isn't my forced air heater pushing air to the vents?

My forced hot air heater stopped pushing air to the vents in my house yesterday.
The oil is still burning, the unit itself is hot, but the vents and duct work are all cold.
Nobody's messed with it, so it has to be something wrong with the unit itself. It's a pretty old and I don't have a whole lot of extra cash to throw around for someone to come and fix it.
Help!
You should hear your burner unit go on, then you should hear your blower kick on. If your blower isn't kicking on at all, the blower motor is shot and you need a new one. If it's humming with no air blowing, shut the power off, clean it, and lubricate it. Turn on the power, press any reset buttons if needed, and see what happens. If it's still not working after that, you'll need a new motor. And with price of oil being so high, until you do get it fixed, shut the power off to the unit as to not waste any more oil.

can I instal a thermostat on a diesel forced air heater that never had one to begin with?

There were other models like mine that had a thermostat. The brand is (All pro). It is a diesel kerosene forced air heater. It's automatic ignition and fan once I flip the switch. That makes me think it would be easy to instal if possible.
yap..and if it didn't work at all or it had other problems regarding what you installed it is best to remove it again.
