Tips on how to relight my gas wall heater?
Jan 16, 2007 by chelsearave
My gas wall heater's pilot went out and it's 10 at night and freezing and need any tips on where the pilot is usually located and if I turn the knob to on, off, or pilot, etc.
Thanks!
And unfortunately no handyman will come to the house at 10 at night
All the answers helped, I see I have to push the pilot button in now, now I just have to find exactly where the pilot is.
there is a panel near the bottom of the furnace. you will see a knob and depending how old the furnce a button to lite it, just like the button on a barbeque. turn the knob to off and wait 5 - 10 minutes for any gas fumes to leave. turn the switch to 'pilot' or 'low' push the lite button or use matches. Once it lights keep it on low for about 30 seconds then turn the rest of the way to 'high'.
Does a Gas Wall heater need to be cleaned?
Apr 02, 2008 by audrey m
The pilot light won't stay on on our gas wall heater. A serviceman came out and stated that the thermal coupler is still good, but because the unit is probably over 30 years old...that the pilot and the heating core needs to be cleaned. What does this involve?
Yes it is very possible it needs a cleaning. We used to disconnect the thermocoupling and burner, remove the thermocoupler and burner, clean the area, check everything, replace the filter if so equipped, check and clean the burner and pilot, replace everything, and test.
